Big Development : Jace Started School!!!!

It’s true… Our little boy started school here in Guyana last week.  He was so eager and the opportunity was there for him to attend even if it would only be  for a little over two weeks.  Sooo we said Ok.  It was a scary decision to make but, as you will see in the pics Jace was ready and very very brave!!!  For those of you who know Jace personally you will know he loves learning and he is a very independent little boy.  He amazed us with how willing he was to walk into a completely different setting and leave him there all by himself…..check out the pics  He will have to tell you all the differences of attending 1st grade in a third world country.  Some things have been really surprising to us, but as usual, Jace doesn't seem fazed in the least and can't wait for the next day to return!

Note: The second day we purchased him the uniform for his school.  He said he would feel even more comfortable wearing the same thing even though the teachers said it was ok for him to wear his own clothing!  We think he looks adorable!

leaving to make the 25 minute walk to school! (uphill in the blazing sun...ok just kidding about the uphill part!)

He is so proud to be going to school in Guyana!

Still excited, especially now that he has a seat designated just to him! (the student in front's mom is just sitting for a few minutes before class starts...she's not the teacher)

Now he is really ready! The uniform of a white dress shirt and dark green shorts made him so proud!

I think he wants mom to put the camera away but, I just can't...

This goat followed Brandon and Jace all the way from our house to the school!

Coming to pick him up (early cuz Dad can't wait another second to see how Jace did that day) and he doesn't know his dad is there yet!

Look at that smile!!!!!

all the students are dismissed for the day

That is so wonderful! It's an experience he is sure to never forget, and allowing him to immerse himself in the culture like that...it's priceless!!

I agree With Beth, an amazing opportunity for him to really see what the other children are learning and to maybe have his own personal territory! And a great experience he will carry with him Forever!!
Miss you Guys!
XOXO
